It is difficult for abstract artists to put their work into words, I think.
I love the rituals of painting. On a good day in the studio, hours pass without notice, and the process of painting becomes a bit of a meditation. I have to scrape and manipulate the paint using a great deal of pressure and exertion, and that repeated movement takes on a bit of a hypnotic rhythm. The act of making my paintings is a meditation and I hope that my work is meditative for the viewer as well.
I like it when things are partially revealed or slightly veiled, and I have a fascination with forests, oceans, and outer space - the mystery and beauty of what seems like endlessness. There is something spiritual in that for me. I work to reflect that in my paintings.
