This work is looking for restoration and redemption within the world that we live in now. We have become displaced from the natural order both physically and spiritually. As a result we have become abstract shadows of what we once were. We have been entrusted as stewards of the earth and yet we manipulate the landscape to our own desires.
Figures are repeated to communicate that we are all, in essence, fractured. Men, women, and children alike are all born into this broken system that we now live in. Gauguin asked “Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?”. Rothko searched for the sublime. In my work the viewer is taken into a world of personal narrative to explore these subjects.
